Chief Executive Officers, or CEOs, report to a board of directors in for-profit and non-profit organizations. They are responsible for setting and meeting their organization’s objectives. Education And Training

The first CEO of a company is often the founder. Larger organizations seeking to hire a new CEO typically prefer applicants with management experience and often a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).
MBA programs accept students with all types of bachelor degrees, but some prefer applicants with management working experience. MBA students take classes in teamwork and leadership, marketing, management, microeconomics, corporate finance, accounting, management statistics, and business ethics.
Students take electives in their field of interest, such as consulting, health care, financial services, or entrepreneurship, after completing the core curriculum of their program. Practical experience is another focus of most MBA programs. Students work with real organizations on developing business ideas and completing internships.
Skills To Become A CEO
Having a degree and years of managerial experience is just part of the equation. A person must also have the necessary skill set that allows the expertise he or she has gained to be applied to a wide range of real-world organizational situations.
They need to have excellent management skills, for example, as they are regularly tasked with managing the activities of a company to support corporate growth. This expertise goes hand in hand with strong leadership skills because CEOs must be able to facilitate this development through staff, capital, and policy management.
To effectively articulate and explain their vision to a wide range of people, from staff to board members, CEOs must have strong communication skills. Also, they need to be able to communicate in a way that is both transparent and convincing.
Since CEOs are expected to make decisions that affect the success of the company regularly, they need ethical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
